Program Goals: Goal 1. Create an environment for the development of the students' knowledge base, rooted in the theoretical foundation of the discipline within the context of a user-centered approach to professional practice. Goal 2. Extend the knowledge base of library and information science and its application through research, outreach, and scholarship centered around the interaction among and access to content, media, and users. Goal 3. Provide leadership in the state and nation to define essential questions and solve critical problems in the discipline of library and information science. A student's degree program consists of required and elective coursework, observational and practical experiences, and opportunities to work as a member of an R&D team.
