More specifically, the course enables students to explore how mediation is actually conducted in family law and other contexts, critical judgment as to when mediation may or may not be appropriate in individual cases, familiarity with legislation involving mediation, special issues facing mediators in mediation involving family dynamics, the role lawyers can or should play when representing clients before, during, and after mediation, and ethical considerations in the practice of family and other types of mediation.
