A student pursuing a Master's degree can develop, in consultation with his or her advisor, a program of study stressing any of a number of areas of mathematics including probability and statistics, differential equations, numerical analysis and discrete mathematics. The Master of Arts in Mathematics with Alabama Class A teaching certification requires 24 hours of approved coursework in mathematics along with a suitable program of education courses. Those students who do not already hold the Alabama Class B Middle or High School Certificate should consider participation in the Non-traditional Fifth-Year Program.
