The University of Texas of the Permian Basin ATEP is a growing program seeking Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education (CAATE) accreditation. The Bachelor of Science major develops the knowledge, skills, and professional attitudes/behaviors necessary for the practice of athletic training. The academic and clinical instructors continually strive to provide the students with the most current evidence-based clinical and teaching practices by attending seminars and conferences, and through conducting original research. The program is set-up into a 2 phase approach, phase 1; Pre-Professional Preparation (first year) helps students become familiar with the skill and knowledge sets needed to complete the curriculum. The second phase, Professional Preparation (years 2, 3, 4), addresses learning of competencies and proficiencies that prepare Athletic Training Students (ATS) to seek NATABOC certification to practice as an entry-level Athletic Trainer.
