Information Technology from The Community College of Baltimore County is a Campus Associate Information Technology degree that prepares you for a IT career. The Information Technology degree program is designed to provide students with the technical skills required for entry-level employment and the course work necessary to transfer to a four-year institution. Students may select the programming or database option, or they may customize their technology electives to best suit their work or transfer needs. Upon graduating with an A.A.S. degree in Information Technology , students will be able to: 1. Demonstrate the following core competencies: communication global perspective/social responsibility, independent learning/personal management, and problem solving skills by incorporating the core competency project in all capstone courses and an abbreviated version of the core competency project in all general education courses. 2. Transfer to a four-year institution for a degree in Information Technology and other related fields through articulation agreements with six (6) four-year colleges in the Maryland area and/or qualify for employment through internship opportunities available for graduating students. 3. Demonstrate the technical skills in programming, database, and web technology required for entry-level employment in the field of information technology and other related areas. 4. Employ a broad knowledge of application software skills, technical skills, and information technology topics which are data communications principles, information security principles, object oriented design and application development using at least two programming languages, LINUX/UNIX operating system, relational database design and management, Structured Query Language, and business principles/methodologies.
