Surgical Technology - The Bryman School

Surgical Technology from The Bryman School is a Campus Associate Surgery degree that prepares you for a Healthcare career. The surgical technology field is expected to continue its rapid growth over the next decade. The pool for potential surgical patients will likely expand as more as people age into Medicare or obtain coverage through health care reform. Surgical technologists are responsible for performing or supervising routine procedures before, during and after surgery. A surgical technologist program provides students with the technical, professional, and emotional skills necessary to work in the operating room (OR). The Bryman School of Arizona offers an Associate of Science in Surgical Technologist that trains students to enter this key medical support field. The associate degree program covers a broad spectrum of clinical courses. Students study general, special, orthopedic and cardiovascular surgery. They learn to identify and prepare surgical instruments and supplies and position patients for surgery. Other courses cover anatomy, anesthesia, infection control and other clinical topics. Associate degree candidates complete additional coursework in communications, psychology and computer applications. We want to give our students the support they need to succeed. After they have successfully completed all coursework, students are placed in externships with local hospitals, surgicenters or physician practices. There, they assist with surgeries to practice and improve their skills in professional settings. Program graduates can compete for entry-level positions in the field.
