Music Technology from Terra State Community College is a Campus Associate Music and Instruments degree that prepares you for a Art and Design career. Music Technology combines studies of the latest technology with traditional theory, history, and performance courses. Students gain proficiency in MIDI sequencing, digital audio, music notation, recording techniques, electronics, and business skills. Terra's music labs feature state-of-the-art equipment, such as ProTools recording systems, 24-channel Mackie mixers, and Kurzweil and Roland synthesizers. The lab includes music and multimedia software, such as ProTools, Finale, Digital Performer, Reason, and more. This program supports an Electronic Music Ensemble, in which students perform on a variety of electronic instruments. Other ensembles include: the Community Chorus, Chamber Singers, Jazz Ensemble, Brass Choir, and Guitar Ensemble. This degree has been arranged so that a transfer into a Bachelors of Music program is achievable. The faculty has identified the following Learning Outcomes for all graduates: Demonstrates comprehension of written music theory for the appropriate freshman and sophomore levels. Demonstrates comprehension of aural skills for the appropriate freshman levels sophomore levels. Utilizes the techniques and fundamental practices of performance skills for appropriate freshman and sophomore levels. Produce or create music utilizing computer hardware, software, and other technology equipment. Capture live and studio performance utilizing digital recording techniques.
