Students completing the Core Classes and passing the EPA608 Refrigerant Handling Certification Exam may proceed to higher level job title classifications. Heating & A/C Mechanic Helper studies include safety, refrigeration fundamentals, tools & equipment, shop practices, electricity and controls, motors, basic installation practices, and refrigerant handling certification. Domestic Unit Repairer studies include instruction in system service, basic automatic controls, troubleshooting electric motors, and domestic appliances to include refrigerators, freezers, and room air conditioners. Refrigeration Technician studies include electronic and programmable controls, motor controls, commercial refrigeration, and an option of refrigeration loads/equipment sizing, computer aided training, laboratory, or co-op/internship. HVAC Technician studies include electronic and programmable controls, motor controls, commercial refrigeration, air conditioning heating and humidification, air conditioning and dehumidification, all weather systems, and carbon monoxide.
