The curriculum of both the undergraduate and graduate programs includes exposure and performance opportunities in chamber music, new music, early music, and orchestral repertoire, in addition to the students' intense focus on solo repertoire. Program The Woodwind Program in the Conservatory of Music at Purchase College offers a Bachelor of Music, Master of Music, Artist Diploma, and Performers Certificate in flute, oboe, clarinet, and bassoon. In addition to private lessons, all woodwind students participate in the Purchase Symphony Orchestra, which presents orchestral concerts, a ballet production, and an opera each year under the direction of Maestro Michael Adelson. In addition to the orchestral experience, students perform in chamber music ensembles each semester, which are coached once a week by a member of our esteemed faculty. Students give recitals and perform in ensembles and master classes given by visiting artists throughout the year. There is also extensive, in-depth work in ear training, music theory, and music history and, at the undergraduate level, a required component of liberal arts general education.
