Construction Technology from Sullivan County Community College is a Campus Associate Construction Management degree that prepares you for a Business career. This Associate in Occupational Studies degree is designed to provide the competency and knowledge-based mastery of skills required for immediate employment or advancement in the residential construction industry. The program was designed to meet growing state-wide needs for a skilled labor force in construction. The program was developed with industry input which included assessment of nationally accredited and industry validated curriculum available through the National Center for Construction Education and Research resulting in customization of the curriculum to meet the skill requirements for new construction and renovation and remodeling. In addition to completion of the degree, students enrolled in this program of study develop performance profiles which document their competencies based on nationally recognized skills standards in the construction industry. These performance profiles may be used in job placement within the mid-Hudson region, in New York State, or throughout the nation. Projections suggest that 200,000 to 250,000 new craft workers are needed each year to address attrition and meet future demands. Carpentry competencies are considered of critical importance to the home building industry, as it provides the foundation for movement to other craft areas, as well as for framing, finishing, and remodeling/renovation.
