Art from Stetson University is a Campus Bachelor Study of Art degree that prepares you for a Art and Design career. While studying art at Stetson University , your work will develop from exposure to our strong foundation principles, art historical traditions and contemporary theories. Our liberal arts environment encourages students to think critically, analytically, and creatively. Small classes assure individual attention and round-the-clock access to studios, allowing for ample opportunity to work outside of class. Stetson's art program has strengths in painting, drawing, digital media, and sculpture. Other areas of concentration include photography and ceramics. The Department of Art is also actively involved in the Digital Arts major, a partnership between the Art , Computer Science and Music Departments. Stetson offers a rich and varied program of visiting artists, lectures and exhibitions that will broaden your exposure to contemporary art and artists. Stetson's Duncan Gallery provides first-hand access to work by contemporary artists, and it features student work during the annual juried art competition and Senior Thesis Exhibitions. The Hand Art Center, a new facility opened in 2009, houses Stetson's renowned Oscar Bleumner Collection of over 1,000 drawings and paintings from the early American Modernist. Through institutional relationships with arts organizations, including the Southeast Museum of Photography in Daytona and the Atlantic Center for the Arts in New Smyrna, Stetson can offer its students exposure to contemporary art and internship opportunities.
