Mission of the General Studies Program The mission of the General Studies Program emanates from the mission of St. Vincent's college and the mission of the Academic Services division. The General Studies Program endeavors to support and facilitate the student's development of critical thinking, logical reasoning and sound decision making. The program offers a broad base of general information foundational to diverse academic and career choices. The Associate Degree Program in General Studies is licensed by the State of Connecticut Board of Governors for Higher Education. The 60 credit curriculum of the General Studies Program assures a firm foundation and integration of knowledge in the areas of humanities, mathematics and science and social sciences. Following successful completion of the program, students will have the necessary skills to enhance responsibilities at their present employment, develop significant skills enabling them to change careers, secure new employment, receive a promotion or transfer to a four year college to pursue a baccalaureate degree.
