We recognize that the study of philosophy is more than reading Plato or Kant; it is also about seeing the effects of philosophical ideas in the real world. Lively discussions of wide-ranging ideas predominate in the classroom. In addition to our course offerings, St. Andrews sends a team each year to compete in the Mid-Atlantic Regional Ethics Bowl and is beginning an active program in applied ethics on campus in partnership with North Carolina Independent Colleges and Universities.
