Program Description The Web Design program is a two-year course based upon the Graphic Design program. Students study the fundamentals of design , drawing, typography, color and form, problem solving, critical thinking and 3D and 2D animation. The use of computers and their operating systems is emphasized. Competency is achieved on the predominant graphics programs. Specific to the Internet, students design interfaces and structure information to create Web pages and sites. Graphics imagery and animations tailored to the Web will be constructed, paying close attention to file formats, color control and compression techniques. Web pages will be programmed using HTML (hypertext markup language). An introduction to several programming languages designed for the Internet aid in designing functions and interactivity in Web sites. Program Goals Upon completing the Web Design AAS degree , students will: qualify for entry level jobs in the interactive design industry, including graphic design studios, interactive design studios, advertising agencies, corporate web departments, internet service providers and other businesses involved in the creation and production of web content. demonstrate proficiency in industry standard software applications. demonstrate a clear understanding of the interactive design process as it is applied in industry. demonstrate a clear understanding of web production, project workflow, and construction of web pages and websites compliant with industry standards. have created an online portfolio with which to present their body of work to potential employers. have opportunities to transfer to area universities and continue their education.
