Department Mission The mission of the Technology Department is to provide high quality teaching to educate students and equip them with lifelong learning skills which allow them to adapt, throughout their professional careers, to changing work environments. The Technology Department also supports faculty growth and development through research and creative activities, since quality teaching and service to humanity and society is enhanced by continued research and creative activities. Program Mission Industrial Technology is a discipline, which requires such education and experience necessary to understand and apply technological and managerial sciences to industry. The major has as its objective the training of qualified personnel who can develop and direct the production and distribution of products and services. The Industrial Technology major is designed to prepare management-oriented technical professionals in the economic-enterprise system. Industrial technology professionals will be involved with: 1. The application of significant knowledge of theories, concepts, and principles found in the humanities and the social and behavioral sciences, including a thorough grounding in communication skills. 2. The understanding and ability to apply principles and concepts of mathematical and physical sciences. 3. The application of concepts derived from, and current skills developed in, a variety of technical disciplines including, but not limited to, robotics, processes, computer-aided manufacturing, quality control, motion and time study, plant layout, facilities planning, industrial safety, production and inventory control, human relations, and computer-aided drafting Program Outcome Upon graduation, students majoring in Industrial Technology Program will have: An understanding of the fundamentals of management, quality, production, and automation. An ability to interpret graphical, numerical, and textual data. An ability to apply relevant scientific and technology principles to solve real world, open-ended industrial problems. An ability to design an industrial process to meet customer needs. An ability to communicate effectively in oral, written and visual forms. An ability to work in teams and understand the effective team dynamics and characteristics. An awareness of contemporary and non-technical issues in technology profession and the role of professionals in an interdependent global society.
