The historical development of broadcast news and public affairs programming is also studied. Classes place an emphasis on responsible journalism with considerable discussion of ethics, legal consideration, and the representation of race, gender, and socio-economic groups in news reporting. Training in the Electronic Journalism specialization prepares students for jobs in radio and television newsrooms, online information sites, and sports media.
