Program Format: Campus Program Level: Bachelor

Missional Ministries from Southeastern University - Lakeland is a Campus Bachelor Religious Studies degree that prepares you for a Liberal Arts career. Fishers of Men (Circa. 21st Century) At Southeastern, we use the term ?missional? to refer to the intention all Christians should have to communicate God?s message of Salvation to those who don?t know Jesus. As a Missional Ministries graduate, you?ll be equipped to work in missions overseas or serve within your home country. You?ll also have the skill set to work as an evangelist who communicates in intimate or large, public settings, as well as through digital media, such as blogs, videos, and e-mail, via the Internet. Even if you don?t work exclusively as a missionary or evangelist, you?ll be educated to draw people to Jesus as you labor in another field. One Southeastern grad uses her practice of medicine to lead medical mission trips. Another teaches English in Asian countries while hosting Bible studies during his off hours. If God is calling you to dedicate your life to missions and evangelism, Southeastern is the ideal place to prepare for your ministry. Our history of preparing ministers and missionaries dates back the better part of a century. And as a student at Southeastern, an Assemblies of God university, you?ll benefit from our connection with Assemblies of God U.S. and World missions organizations, and other missions groups. In addition, you?ll learn from the experience of your professors, who have served abroad as missionaries and missionary directors for decades. From Nicaragua to Malaysia, they have been intimately involved with sharing God?s Word, be it raising funds or planting churches. In addition to knowledgeable professors, Southeastern has students who are passionate about serving God in missions . Our students have recently served in Kenya, the Dominican Republic, Austria, and Cambodia. As a student, hearing other students talk about missions is infectious and will inspire you to get to work too! Our campus? location in central Florida will give you convenient access to flights to Latin America, the Caribbean, and Africa. On average, three to four teams from Southeastern participate in a mission trip each semester. And our Jerusalem Studies Center program, in which all Southeastern religion majors participate, will give you international experience in Israel. Preparing to Serve Southeastern?s Missional Ministries program begins with our Christ-centered liberal arts (general education) core curriculum, where you develop an understanding and appreciation of God and His creation, human creativity and reason, and our place of responsibility as stewards in the world God has made. As you forge links between what you?ve learned in the core and the more specialized courses in your major, our hope is that you also begin to relate all that you learn to your life and your faith. Within the Missional Ministries major itself, you?ll learn how to interpret the Bible and study Greek or another foreign language. You?ll also study theology, missions , and how to share the Gospel with unbelievers. Before you graduate, you?ll gain experience too: you?ll participate in a mission trip overseas or within a U.S. community that needs to see the love of God. As a Missional Ministries major, you will receive both practical training to serve as an evangelist or missionary , and rigorous academic training befitting a theologian. What's Next? Southeastern?s Missional Ministries program will prepare you to become a missionary, evangelist, or church planter. It also is designed to equip you to become bi-vocational, allowing you to work as a professional in another field but also participate in missions, evangelism, and church planting.
