You'll be encouraged to apply your knowledge of business to improve lives in developing countries. A fisherman in an African country may need a small loan to buy a boat or nets to support his family. Applying your business know-how as part of a missionary organization could lead to a microfinance program that helps the fisherman and many others. In addition to helping others, developing and applying business skills can strengthen the body of Christ. Many who go into missions have the gift of preaching or teaching, but equally essential are those with gifts in business and administration. They can improve the performance of missionary organizations or strengthen business institutions in developing nations. A Universal Foundation Southeastern's international business program begins with our Christ-centered liberal arts core curriculum, where you develop an understanding and appreciation of God and His creation, human creativity and reason, and our place of responsibility as stewards in the world God has made. As you forge links between what you've learned in the core and the more specialized courses in your major, our hope is that you also begin to relate all that you learn to your life and your faith. Business and the World Within the international business major itself, you will first acquire the tools to successfully run-or work for-a company. Our core business classes teach accounting, finance, management, leadership, ethics, and other vital subjects. After you master these fundamentals, you'll take courses that will equip you with the knowledge to do business abroad. Our International Business class exposes you to the realm of political and legal factors that create risk in international ventures. In our International Financial Management class, you'll learn how to calculate business risks associated with doing business in foreign currencies. And in our International Marketing class, you'll learn to consider what is culturally appropriate in marketing in different countries. In addition to classes in business, international studies in world religions, communication, history, and other subjects will broaden your knowledge of foreign cultures and help you pinpoint places and fields to explore professionally. What's Next? Southeastern's international business program will equip you to contribute to the business side of missionary programs for churches and other nonprofit organizations.
