The Preparation Southeastern?s English and Intercultural Studies program begins with our Christ-centered liberal arts (general education) core curriculum, where you develop an understanding and appreciation of God and His creation, human creativity and reason, and our place of responsibility as stewards in the world God has made. As you forge links between what you?ve learned in the core and the more specialized courses in your major, our hope is that you also begin to relate all that you learn to your life and your faith. Cross-Cultural Communication and Ministry In the English and Intercultural Studies program itself, you?ll take English, education, and missions classes, building three levels of skills needed for cross-cultural ministry. First, your natural abilities in the English language will be honed and expanded. Your course work in English will include world literature, creative writing, and advanced grammar. Second, you will be trained in the art of teaching. You?ll study teaching methods, including how to teach English as a second language. Third, you will be challenged and encouraged through both practical and theological missions courses, learning about the history of missions, missionary life and work, and intercultural communication. You?ll apply all three of these academic areas?English, teaching, and missions? in a capstone internship that reflects your interests.
