Electroneurodiagnostic Technology from Southeast Technical Institute is a Campus Associate Electroencephalographic degree that prepares you for a Healthcare career. Electroneurodiagnostic (END) Technologists record and study the science of the electrical activity of the brain and spinal activity. Working with both doctors and patients, END technologists develop a good rapport with patients, comforting them during procedures. They understand neurophysiology and recognize normal and abnormal electrical activity. END Technologists also obtain medical histories of patients, record electrical potentials, calculate results of tests, maintain medical equipment, and may work with specific treatments. The ENDT program at Southeast Tech covers three main areas of study: Electroencephalograms (EEG) is the study of the electrical activity of the brain. Electrodes are placed on the patients scalp and electrical potentials of the brain are read and recorded. Patients are typically seen for seizures, strokes or head injuries. Polysomnograms (PSG) is the study of sleep medicine. END Technologists monitor numerous functions of the body to assess for possible daytime or nighttime sleep disorders. Common disorders are sleep apnea, insomnia, narcolepsy, and restless leg syndrome. Evoked Potentials (EP) monitors the conduction of impulses that travel along the nerves. This type of monitoring is often done in the operating room to monitor nerve pathways during back surgery, neck surgery, tumor removal and more. Evoked potentials test and record how quickly and completely the nerve signals reach the brain. View more details on Southeast Technical Institute .
