Overview Medical laboratory technicians perform general tests in all areas of the clinical laboratory: transfusion services (blood banking), chemistry, hematology, immunology and microbiology. The program is designed to be completed in 24 months. Students may also choose a three-year option in which to complete the program. Program graduates are eligible to take national certification examinations offered by the American Society for Clinical Pathology Board of Certification. Upon completion, a graduate also may transfer the two years of credits to the University of Nebraska Medical Center Clinical Laboratory Science Program.
