Diesel Technology - Truck from Southeast Community College Area is a Campus Associate Automotive degree that prepares you for a Engineering career. Overview The Diesel Technology-Truck program is a six-quarter (18-month) program. Students are on campus in lecture/lab courses during five of those six quarters. The sixth quarter involves a unique opportunity for students to demonstrate the knowledge they have learned on campus at a cooperative education work station. During this experience, the student is paid, helping offset the costs of college. Students will spend one quarter working in an actual repair shop. Wages earned during this cooperative education training period can be used to help offset educational costs. The program is fully accredited by the state of Nebraska and by the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools. It also is ASE certified by the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence. Mission The mission of the Diesel Technology-Truck program is to prepare individuals for employment as high-quality entry-level truck service technicians in truck dealerships, truck fleet service facilities, and independent truck service shops. Job Outlook The number of jobs for diesel service technicians and mechanics is projected to grow about as fast as average. Opportunities should be very good for people who complete formal training in diesel mechanics. Graduates report an average starting salary of $13.75 per hour, with a high of $16 per hour.
