Care & Development of Young Children from South Louisiana Community College is a Campus Associate Child Care degree that prepares you for a Human Services career. The Associate of Arts in Care & Development of Young Children degree is designed to prepare individuals to be effective early childhood professionals in a variety of settings. The curriculum provides both theory and skills for those individuals employed in an environment where caring for young children is its principal function. Students will receive a broad theoretical and practical knowledge base and many field experiences designed to prepare students to provide children with the highest quality of care by fully understanding and participating in the Louisiana Quality Rating System (QRS) and by striving to demonstrate best practices as recommended by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). This program is not designed for students planning to earn a baccalaureate degree in education.
