The class/shop atmosphere is similar to an actual boat building shop. Class sizes vary from 16-18 students for each instructor. The Marine Carpentry class has been offered since 1936 as a program of Edison Technical School, which became part of Seattle Central in 1967. Career Opportunities Jobs are available in custom and commercial boat building shops and repair yards in the Seattle area. Job skills required for employees vary from yard to yard depending on the size of the work force.
