Nurse Aide from Schuylkill Technology Centers is a Campus Certificate Clinical Nurse degree that prepares you for a Nursing career. The Nurse Aide Program at the Schuylkill Technology Center (STC) is designed to prepare individuals for entry-level employment in a variety of health care roles, including, but not limited to: Nurse Aide in long term care facilities (i.e. nursing homes) Direct Care Worker/Human Services Each student must complete a total of 100 hours. The Nurse Aide Program is comprised of classroom theory, lab practice and a supervised clinical practicum at a local nursing home, as well as an 8-hour field placement for those individuals who choose the Direct Care Worker specialty. Program areas of study include: I. NURSE AIDE CORE (100 hours) Role & Function of the Nurse Aide Basic Nursing/Personal Care Resident?s Rights Basic Restorative Skills Communication & Interpersonal Skills Care of the Cognitively Impaired Infection Control Mental Health & Social Service Needs Safety & Emergencies in LTC Settings Supervised Clinical Practicum in a local nursing Resident?s Independence Pain & Comfort Control Measure Recognizing and Preventing Abuse Body System Disease & Disorders Confidentiality & HIPPA Regulations Upon successful completion of all program requirements, graduates of the program may be eligible to take the Nurse Aide Competency Examination for listing on the Pennsylvania state registry.
