PRINCIPLES OF BUILDING MATERIALS ~ 75hr/3cr Identification, selection, estimation, handling, and disposal of building materials used in residential construction. POWER TOOL APPLICATION ~ 105hr/3cr Selection and safe operation of electric, pneumatic, and power actuated tools such as routers, circular saws, coil nailers, and nail guns. COMPUTER APPLICATION FOR CONSTRUCTION ~ 15hr/.5cr PC software programs including estimating and structure design. Use of spreadsheets in preparation of job bids. FINISH FLOORING ~ 15hr/.5cr Installation methods of wood and non-wood floor treatments. Product selection, estimating, and layout procedures in reference to function. MASONRY CONSTRUCTION APPLICATIONS ~15hr/.5cr An introduction to masonry methods and construction practices related to concrete block foundations and concrete flatwork. STAIR CONSTRUCTION ~ 30hr/1cr Calculate, layout, and build a stair system according to building codes. Installation methods for treads, risers, and balustrade.
