We also encourage collaboration from student to student, department to department. The skills and the ability to work in a team make Computer Art graduates uniquely prepared to contribute in film, television, commercial and video-game productions. Our investment in technology is impressive and ongoing. The nearly two hundred Apple and eighty Boxx Technology computers provide the power for the nine classrooms and four production labs. A fiber network allows near instant transfer of massive digital files from production labs on the second and third floors of the Computer Art department. While technology is a driving force in this department, every project begins with a pencil and paper. Drawing, painting and story development are essential aspects of the curriculum. Computer Art majors are encouraged to take non-computer art studio electives from the many outstanding programs at SVA. Finally and most importantly, Computer Art is a production-based curriculum.
