Master of Architecture [ 3.5 years ] The 102-credit Master of Architecture program at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago begins with a foundation of required skills and grounding in the histories of and theories specific to architecture , engineering, and design. Work experience in architecture , interior design, or a related field is recommended, but not required. The GRE is recommended, but not required. Students should have one course in each of the following subjects: college level algebra and college level physics to begin the Master of Architecture program. This applies to the Master of Architecture tracks and the Master of Architecture with an Emphasis in Interior Architecture tracks. Master of Architecture, Option II [ 2 years ] Students with undergraduate non-professional bachelor's degrees in architecture or architectural technology may request admission to SAIC's Master of Architecture, Option II degree program. Pending available space in the program, students who are accepted into the accelerated degree program will still need to fulfill 45 credits of non-architectural college-level coursework that are required for graduation from an NAAB-accredited Master of Architecture degree program. Students admitted into the Option II program may also be missing one or two specific topical architectural classes, and if so will be required to take those classes at SAIC. They may use their elective courses to fulfill this coursework before graduation. Students who request consideration for this accelerated degree program may be placed into the regular Master of Architecture track if their undergraduate transcripts and syllabi do not include courses covering all of the topics in the first year of SAIC's Master of Architecture degree program.
