The curriculum is designed to meet the criteria of the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT), Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS), and the Florida State Department of Education. The curriculum fulfills the recommendations of the American Society of Radiologic Technologists (ASRT) and the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT). The curriculum and program policies also follow the guidelines stated in the Santa Fe College Student Handbook. Students complete twenty-two months of combined academic study and clinical experience. The academic program includes professional and general college courses. All professional courses (those with a RTE prefix) have listed course goals, objectives, and competencies which have to be satisfied before the student matriculates. Students who complete the Program will be awarded an Associate of Science degree by Santa Fe College and will be eligible to sit for the radiography examination for national certification given by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).) The Program is conducted in cooperation with Shands at AGH, Shands Hospital at the University of Florida, North Florida Regional Medical Center and the Veterans Administration Medical Center. Students are enrolled on a 40 hour per week basis for 22 consecutive months. Approximately 40% of the time is devoted to classroom and laboratory activities and the remainder is in the clinical area. Radiography Program Purpose The purpose of the Santa Fe Radiography Program is to educate and develop competent, professional radiographers who, by virtue of theory and practice, are proficient in all facets of radiography; and have a high degree of adaptability in a changing technology. A further aim is to develop qualities of leadership prerequisite to teaching and supervision in radiography. The Program hopes to nurture a sense of pride in the profession of radiology and impress upon the graduate the importance of continuing education and lifelong learning. The Program also maintains that the patient is, and should remain, the student's primary focus.
