Candidates who choose this degree plan may substitute two approved courses from one of the following content areas: Early Childhood, English as a Second Language, Special Education, Library Science, Educational Technology, or English. MEd in Reading/Language Arts with Reading Specialist Certification (36 hours) This degree plan is specifically designed for students interested in obtaining a Texas Reading Specialist Certification. Candidates for the Reading Specialist Certification must have a valid elementary or secondary teaching certificate along with two years of successful teaching experience before taking the Reading Specialist Exam.
