Modern and Classical Languages Learning Objectives Students will be able to converse and/or recount a narrative in the target language using past, present, and future tenses. In the target language, students will be able to read and comprehend a written passage that reflects, according to their current level of study, a contemporary, theme-related topic. Students will be able to communicate via a variety of short writing assignments -- journals, e-mails, letters, compositions, resumes, etc. of assigned readings -- using past, present, and future tenses. Students will demonstrate that they have discerned the major topic or theme of the passage read to them by the professor or a native speaker. Students will acquire factual information about the country of the target language, as well as be able to compare and contrast aspects of the target culture with that of the United States. The curriculum in the Department of Modern and Classical Languages allows students to develop skills in a second language as part of the College?s mission to produce a well-rounded graduate who is prepared for life as well as for a career in our global society.
