The requirements for a certificate consist of seven courses: AAM200 - Intro to African American Studies AAM201 - Contemporary Black America AAM - 300 or 400 level 3 courses from African American Studies or cross listed courses AAM496 - Capstone course (taken during the term preceding graduation) Careers: Both the major and the certificate program give students the opportunity to develop a deeper understanding of the pluralistic society in which they live. Students will be prepared to work in careers that design and implement programs and policy for and on behalf of African Americans.
