The Master of Science Historic Preservation Program at Roger Williams University is housed within the School of Architecture, Art and Historic Preservation. The SAAHP is a multidisciplinary community committed to balance between creation and conservation , aesthetic and technical pursuits, national and international perspectives, individual exploration and community involvement in a period of environmental challenges. Building on its three-decades-old undergraduate program, Roger Williams University now offers a Master of Science. Two paths are available. A one-year (minimum) 32-credit program is available to students holding a bachelor?s degree in historic preservation . A two-year 52-credit program is available to qualified students holding a bachelors degree. The goal of the program is to provide an education in historic preservation that empowers students to realize their own personal and professional potential. The program couples a multi-disciplinary approach with a rigorous core of field-based professional preservation offerings. Students gain an understanding of the preservation field in the greater context of history, the built environment, cooperative community engagement, and work with allied professions. The program includes preservation history and philosophy, documentation and research, community planning, law and regulation, design and economics. Studies are placed into practice through field-based workshops, assignments and an internship?all in partnership with regional, national and international organizations. As a student, you can look forward to a customized program outline developed specifically for you upon matriculation, based on the content of your baccalaureate program. Full or part-time study options are available. You will be taught by a faculty that has decades of experience in the field as partners, executive directors, specialized consultants and professors.
