Internships in Psychology The major requirement that students often find most valuable is the internship. Students are required to earn a minimum of three credits of internship, which allows them to apply their interviewing, listening, and assessment skills in a real life setting. These placements are designed to benefit each individual student, and are often with such organizations as the Yellowstone Boys and Girls Ranch, the Community Mental Health Center, New Day (in-patient care for troubled adolescents) and Alternatives (transitional care for inmates of the state and federal correctional systems). Psychology as the Foundation for a Career Graduates of the psychology program are prepared for graduate work in psychology , counseling, and social work. o Catherine Zook earned her PhD at the University of Missouri and has worked in the counseling center at the University of Tennessee. Graduates have done well in law school, medical school, and a variety of business and health related positions. o Kent Sipe earned a law degree from the University of Montana Law School and was recently elected as County Attorney for Musselshell County, Montana. o Brian Severin has flourished in an executive position with a regional trucking company in Denver.
