Work in the many areas that require knowledge of biology requires highly educated and curious individuals with backgrounds in the liberal arts, business, chemistry, physics, mathematics and the life sciences. The biology department offers both the Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Science degrees in biology. Career opportunities Biology graduates have career opportunities as educators in colleges and universities, in primary and secondary schools, and in museums, zoos, aquariums and nature centers. Careers in environmental management and conservation exist through business and governmental agencies. Private industry uses trained biologists in areas such as sales, management, research and writing. Many possibilities exist in the areas of medicine and allied health. Biotechnology, genetic counseling, and forensic science are some of the newer areas that individuals with interest in biology pursue. Careers are available that link biology to other disciplines, such as art, law, ethics and economics.
