Africana Studies from Rhode Island College is a Campus Bachelor Area Studies degree that prepares you for a Liberal Arts career. Established in 1972, the Africana Studies Program at Rhode Island College is one of the oldest Black Studies programs in the New England area. The program offers a trans-disciplinary curriculum in the arts, humanities, and social/behavioral sciences. The program offers a myriad of cross-cultural courses that focus on sociological, historical, political, literary, religious, and artistic themes. Courses offered by Africana Studies enable students to have both a historical and contemporary understanding of the experiences, traditions, and dynamics of people of African descent throughout the world.
