Program Description The PCC Massage Therapy program provides a thorough education in the proper application of basic massage techniques as well as an introduction to advanced and specialized therapeutic modalities. Students are given the opportunity to hone their skill and progressively develop endurance during in-class massage exchanges and at numerous off-campus massage events as a part of the PCC Massage Therapy Team. Our educational methods are not traditional classroom presentations, rather, we engage students by teaching to all learning styles: visual, kinesthetic, auditory and tactile. Students also receive instruction on how to set up their own business in the community. Aromatherapy, Reflexology and Acupressure are taught by skilled and experienced practitioners so students obtain the foundation needed to skillfully apply these techniques. Through this program the student completes over 800 hours of education in massage and bodywork which is required for registration as a massage therapist in the State of Colorado and to take the National Certification Exam. Career Opportunities Employment growth for massage therapists is expected to be faster than average for all occupations with very good job prospects particularly for individuals seeking part-time work*. According to Occupational Employment Statistics, the median annual wage for massage therapists in May 2007 was $40,330.
