Incoming students meet with the faculty within 2 weeks of arrival for a discussion of the general curricular needs for their chosen course of graduate study. Generally first and second year students take six core courses, these include a sequence of fundamental papers, the journal club, a course on professional issues and the field course on tropical ecology . Other advanced topic related courses are taken throughtout the graduate career.
