This program is designed to emphasize two main objectives. The first is to guide you in the understanding of great literary works both past and present, which will expand your knowledge of human emotion and experience. The second objective is to help you develop the skills you\\\'ll need to communicate clearly, concisely, and persuasively in the written and spoken word. As an English major, you can take courses in expository and creative writing, literary criticism, speech, the history of the English language , and British and American literature, plus courses in world literature, linguistics, philosophy and psychology.
