Administrative Professional Technology offers a core curriculum that provides an academic/technical foundation for individuals preparing for positions in business and health careers using computer applications and administrative skills. During the last semester of the two-year curriculum, administrative skills will be assessed using Office Proficiency Assessment and Certification (OPAC), developed by the International Association of Administrative Professionals. OPAC uses industry-accepted testing and validation techniques. It measures proficiency and knowledge in computer software, clerical, financial and professional areas. Students may choose to certify based on the results of the assessment. Holders of the Certified Professional Secretary (CPS) certification may receive credit for 16 semester hours at Pellissippi State by presenting proof that they have passed all parts of the exam and have successfully completed 12 semester hours at Pellissippi State.
