Political Science from Our Lady of the Lake University - San Antonio is a Campus Bachelor Public Administration degree that prepares you for a Human Services career. Real-world experience for all students majoring in political science is one of the hallmarks of the Political Science Department at Our Lady of the Lake University . All political science majors are required to take part in a practicum experience at sites such as the San Antonio Mayor???s office, City Council offices, District Attorney???s office, the U.S. District Court House, or at sites in Washington, D.C. or the state capitol in Austin. Practicum experiences combined with supportive faculty who serve as mentors and advisors give students a bridge between theory and practice that prepares them for graduate school, law school or careers in government , education, international law or journalism. Participation in the Political Science Honor Society, Pi Sigma Alpha, opens opportunities for scholarships and the development of leadership skills. The department also sponsors the Political Science Student Association, an outlet for leadership development, networking and community service. Course work in the Political Science department includes American political parties, constitutional law, political theory and modern political ideology, international relations and law, environmental policy and law, research methods, Mexican Americans and politics in the southwest, comparative government, legislative process, political geography, and Latin American politics.
