Write expository, persuasive, comparative, and research essays that demonstrate an understanding of the coherent content, organizational, mechanical, stylistic, and documentation requirements for good writing 2. Write analyses of literary works from at least two different critical approaches (formalist or new criticism and one other) which are thoughtful, well-supported, insightful, and demonstrate an understanding of how form contributes to meaning 3. Identify the theoretical approaches taken by scholars in works of literary criticism 4. Analyze and describe the grammatical structures of English sentences 5. Detect and correctly revise/edit inadequacies and errors (e.g., errors in coherence, organization, style, mechanics, and/or documentation) in their own writing English Education Major The Bachelor of Arts degree in English Education meets the standards of the Oklahoma State Department of Education and NCATE for teaching certification for grades 6-12.
