The Department of English at Ohio State offers a varied and comprehensive curriculum in literature, rhetoric, composition, literacy, folklore, language study, film, critical theory, and creative writing. Analysis of literature and language helps develop a capacity for logical thought, an awareness of the complexity of value judgments, and an understanding of the imaginative possibilities of the mind. By exposing students to some of the greatest imaginations our civilization has produced, the study of literature engages and deepens all our faculties?mental, emotional, moral, and aesthetic.
