The criminal justice major is also intended to provide students with academic preparation for graduate school in criminal justice or law. This program is structured to comply with the certification standards of the Academy of Criminal Justice Sciences. The Nyack College Criminal Justice major will place a strong emphasis on the principles and practices of restorative justice . Restorative justice is a biblically based view of criminal justice that attempts to engage victims, offenders, the affected communities, and government institutions in bringing about deep and lasting solutions by focusing on healing and restoration. Mission Statement The Criminal Justice major is designed to prepare students for culturally sensitive service to individuals, families, and communities impacted by crime. Graduates of the program will integrate social and restorative justice principles with professional criminal justice skills that enable creative solutions to crime and criminal behavior.
