Nursing from Northern Marianas College is a Campus Associate Registered Nurse degree that prepares you for a Nursing career. Mission Statement: The mission of the Nursing Department is to generate locally educated and licensed nurses to work in the various health care provider agencies in the CNMI as well as in the Pacific region. The Northern Marianas College Nursing Department is committed to providing career guidance and education in nursing to those students of the CNMI and the Pacific Basin who desire to become Registered Nurses. To accomplish this commitment, we offer an Associate of Science Degree in Nursing (ASN). At the completion of the ASN program, the graduate is eligible to take the NCLEX-RN (National Computerized Licensure Examination) which leads to a Registered Nurse (RN) license in the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands (CNMI) and the United States. Program Learning Outcomes Upon completion of the program, students will be able to: Provide nursing care based on standards of professional practice within legal, ethical, and regulatory frameworks; Communicate effectively with clients, families, and other members of the healthcare team; Assess clients and families comprehensively, including physical, developmental, emotional, psychological, sociological, cultural, and spiritual knowledge; Provide nursing care for the medical-surgical client in the hospital, community or home, integrating biological, psychological, sociological, cultural, and spiritual knowledge; Demonstrate caring interventions that assist the client in meeting his/her needs; Educate clients, significant support persons, and other members of the healthcare team to promote and maintain health and reduce risks to health; Collaborate with clients, significant support persons, other members of the healthcare team, and community agencies to assist in meeting clients? needs; Manage care for a group of clients; Continuously assess and evaluate his or her own individual needs for advancement and/or continuing education as a part of personal and professional development as an accountable and responsible member of the nursing profession; Utilize critical and creative thinking in all settings to facilitate problem solving and decision-making by both themselves and clients; and Communicate effectively through the use of oral, written, and computer skills.
