Our BBA: IS degree program can prepare you for a variety of management and technical positions associated with the analysis, design, and implementation of computerized business information systems . Our IS students may also continue their education through the Master of Business Administration degree. The program is designed to give you a solid foundation in software development, database design and development, and enterprise systems upon which you can build a rewarding career in the information systems and technology field. Specifically, IS students gain a keen understanding of the functional areas of business, knowledge of the technical aspects of IS, and the analytical skills necessary to design, develop, implement and ultimately manage IS. Our IS degree program prepares you for a variety of management and technical positions associated with the analysis, design, and implementation of computerized business information systems. The program is a hands-on, small-class experience for students. It begins with a 3-semester programming sequence which leads to systems analysis and design study, database management , and electives such as networking, simulation, and e-commerce security. Typical IS students will graduate with academic preparation in the following areas: Structured systems analysis and design methodologies, including the use of CASE tools. Relational database management systems, including their design, development, manipulation and administration. Structured programming techniques, including the use of rigorous internal and external program documentation standards. Object-oriented programming and development techniques. Development of online systems using a variety of programming languages (e.g. Java, .NET, and scripting languages). In addition, IS students will gain knowledge in one or more of these areas depending on the choice of electives: Enterprise systems and enterprise resource planning. Data communications, networking and distributed processing. Information security and architecture.
