Department of Exercise and Sport Sciences The Exercise and Sport Sciences graduate program at New Mexico Highlands University provides students with a comprehensive understanding of the sciences as it pertains to health , physical education , exercise science, and sport administration. Human Performance and Sport The Department of Exercise and Sport Sciences has a graduate program in Human Performance and Sport (HPS) as well as two additional emphasis areas: Sport Administration and Teacher Education. All three of our HPS graduate degrees require 36 graduate credits. At the end of the coursework, students are required to complete a six credit capstone experience. Students may choose a six credit field project or thesis or may choose the comprehensive exam option. The comprehensive exam option requires six additional hours, as it is not taken for credit. Students completing this graduate degree are prepared to continue into doctoral programs or work in the field of human performance and sport. Master of Arts in HPS For the Human Performance and Sport graduate degree only six credits are specified by the department, making this an excellent choice for graduate students desiring to tailor-make their own program. Master of Arts HPS Emphasis in Sport Administration This program focuses on careers in management and administration in sport and related fields.
