Music History from Nazareth College of Rochester is a Campus Bachelor Music and Instruments degree that prepares you for a Art and Design career. The music history program explores the genres, historical themes, and influences on music, musicians, composers, and musical trends throughout the ages. Our program provides students with a foundation in history, repertoire, scholarly literature, and methodologies of Western music , as well as an introduction to non-Western musical traditions. The curriculum is designed to develop an ability to think critically, reason clearly, and to write about music within the context of the Liberal Arts tradition. A degree in Music from Nazareth College not only prepares students to be accomplished musicians, it immerses them in a the study of music from multiple perspectives. The goal is to develop musical ambassadors?performers, teachers, and clinicians who bring music to the community through performance, scholarship, and/or instruction. Program Highlights The degree program prepares the student for further study in music history or musicology at the graduate level. Students study a primary, applied instrument during each semester of the program. Study abroad opportunities are available. Internships opportunities can be a part of the program of study.
