Veterinary Technology from Navajo Technical College is a Campus Associate Veterinary degree that prepares you for a Healthcare career. The Veterinary program offers an A.A.S. degree in Veterinary Technology after the successful completion of four semesters. This program will prepare students for employment as veterinary assistants , tribal rangers, paramedical veterinarians, wildlife or animal control officers, feedlot animal health technicians , and other relevant occupations. The course consists of a variety of practical hands-on projects along with formal classroom instruction, which produce a well-trained individual able to perform the duties required for entering animal health or related fields. Training includes both large and small animals. Students participate in classroom, laboratory, clinical, and field experiences while working with veterinarians and instructors in real life situations. Students are also required to serve as interns after the second semester. The general education requirements for the A.A.S. degree in Veterinary Technology are based upon college level courses; therefore it is recommended that students who do not initially place in college level English and/or mathematics courses follow the Pre-Veterinary Technology program. The Pre-Veterinary program includes all English courses below the ENG-110 level and all mathematics courses below the MTH-120 level as advised through placement testing and assessment. During the Pre-Veterinary program, students may also take the required Humanities/Social Science course(s) and Din? Studies course(s) as advised, as well as beginning some of the 100 level coursework for the Veterinary Technology program (VET-101, VET-102, and VET-103).
