The Department of Biology provides a strong program designed to enable students to transfer to an upper division college of their choice. Offering a wide variety of courses, the Biology Department seeks to serve those students wishing to pursue a career in the biological sciences as well as those students who simply wish to explore the field of biology. Whether designed for the science student or the non-science student, all of our laboratory courses will satisfy the science requirement for an associate degree and all Biology courses can be used for elective credit. As a service for students pursuing a career in the biological sciences, the Biology Department has developed articulation agreements with various branches of SUNY, Albany and Stony Brook for example, and many of the local private institutions. In addition to providing students with the course work necessary for career preparation, the Biology Department offers extensive career advisement for all areas of the biological sciences. Students preparing for careers in areas such as medicine, dentistry, chiropractic, podiatry, veterinary medicine, pharmacy, forestry, environmental science, biological research, etc. are encouraged to see departmental advisors.
